just wanted to tell you all, my daughter is in a special needs unit. When she started at the school they give her a taxi service, the taxi's didnt work out because the drivers where late, rude, etc:mad:. Anyway, l have been bringing her myself, l was talking to the mini bus driver on friday, at school & he asked me about my expences, my reply; "what expences", he told me the council pays for monthly mileage , l rang the council & yes its true, they just dont tell you, plus they re- emburst for any bus tickets. the council sends you forms out, you need to bring them into school to get the secretary to sign once a month. the council is going to back pay me from september, hope it helps

I do not think that this is a 'freebie' for this site. This is expenditure of public money, that is guided by interpretations of legislation and finances available to Local Authorities, and each will have ther own interpretation of the legislation. Taxi's are commonly used for school transport, to great public expense. Taxi driver availability coupled with traffic congestion often result in problems, which are not always accepted and understood by the recipient. 'rude' taxi drivers, however, are not acceptable. Other solutions to the needs of the child and family are a great idea. Financing of such provision is therefore not a 'freebie'. We all have to be responsible citizens when it comes to the public purse. Can you tell that I feel strongly about this. My apologies if this post offends anyone.0 -
Somebody is always paying for something somewhere...is anything really a freebie? The guy is simply trying to help other people out by providing a bit of information, no harm done.0

.... and you can bet your mortgage that whatever the council give the deserving Dutch12 it will be far less per mile etc than they gave the grabbing cab company, so public money will be saved."If a man says something, but there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?"0

Yep. My council has this sceme, and cant help but be amazed that it gives people who run their own Special needs child 13P per mile. Council employees receive 40P per mile for any council related milage ( and some un- realted...I bet).0 -
