Can you help. We have started building up a good business with some excellent leads in our area of surrey/middlesex/london. however my partner and i would like to live abroad a few months of the year for a better quality of life. we would like to keep these building jobs going but we dont know what to do to find someone trustworthy to replace us when we are not around. it is stopping us from taking the next step to go abroad and getting me quite miserable!

The sort of person you need is well able to start up and run their own business - why should they want to work for you?
What you need is a partner. Maybe with 20% holding & profit share - the person you want must have a vested interest - to keep them vested it would be a good idea to get them to pay for this share of your business.
How to find such a person? Being in the building industry myself I've no doubt you already know at least half a dozen who'd do. I'd go for older gentleman (OK or woman) near to retireing age (but in good health) who would welcome a last opportunity to be the boss - such a person would bring the necessary weight of authority while you're away and may well know a few tricks of the trade.still raining0
