Hi
DH -or not Darling has confessed when I picked up a reposession order letter that he hasn't paid the mortgage for three months, help me! he says he I checked with is bank that he paid this month and he has! so they must still be taking payments from him. I have called our friends and my bb's between them are offering £800 the arrears are £1500. The letter states proceedings have been started and the date is set for feb 20th!
I need to know if we ring and pay next week can we stop this or has it gone too far? Someone please help me 4 weeks married and i feel as it's crumbling around me i want to lay down and die and give up i feel so desolate.

    Hi Pippa

Sorry to hear about this. Can you not call the bank/mortgage place NOW and speak to someone? Is there a number on the letter?

Maybe explain that you have £800 to pay now, and that the remaining £700 will be forthcoming. Im sure they would prefer some payment (and over 1/2 is good).

Not sure what else to advise.

I'd contact them ASAP, tell them you have £800 now and arrange a payment plan for the rest.
The more long term question is, how and why this has happened?

Why do we these type of letters come on a Saturday when everything is closed!?! You have managed to raise £800 well done you sound like you have a fab support network.
Calm down, there really is nothing that you can do right now, so just please tery not to stress to much.
I dont know anything of use but I am sure somebody who knows will be along soon!
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • Everything is closed and because he's been lying so much not sure if I can trust what he's saying now. He even had the postman put the post under the mat so I wouldn't see it so he could get there first as I finish work first.
    It's so horrendous.

I think you and your new husband need to have a talk about trust and being in this together. Reassure him that you want to be there for him, but he has to let you in too. Sending hugs, it's not a easy situation

Like the others have said I would ring them first thing monday and tell them you can pay £800 now and hopefully they will come to arrangement on the remainder.

Definately need a good chat with the OH too.

    Good luck.

  • he's asked me if I want a divorce, we have to drive and collect the 'loans' for our friends - already on a DMP so this sucks!

He probably feels that this had ruined your relationship. however, if you feel that you still want a marriage, you need to sit him down and tell him that you love him but lying about stuff like this is not good, you are a married couple and need to share and be honest.

He sounds like he has gone a bit defensive.

Deffo sit him down and chat.

  • Hugs.

Tell him its lucky for him that you can't afford a divorce right now.

I hope it all works out.

I'm not defending him, but he probably feels mortified about the situation he has dragged you into.
Like a lot of us on this site, he could well be guilty of the "head in the sand" syndrome & maybe was thinking he could work it out without without involving you. People don't always think rationally when worrying debts are piling up.
If I was in your situation, I would have a no holds barred, clear the air discussion about where you go from here & impress on him that although you will support him, he needs to face up to what & why things are going wrong & come up with a plan of action to rectify things.
