Cooked Breakfasts - Freezing?

Comments

  • I do the same as Mattogier with my black pudding, slice, freeze then cook. I am the only one in the house who likes it, and as much as I would love to I can't eat it all at once.

Since you will be microwaving it all anyway I wouldn't bother trying to freeze the mushrooms, they will cook anyway so I would just nuke them from fresh for a min with a bit of butter.

Hillbilly Housewife has a recipe for breakfast meat muffins. I can't find it on the site, but I've found a copy here:

I hope they'll freeze? I might make some for OH for him to munch once the baby is born.

Alternatively, how about making a breakfast in the slow cooker, if you have one.

I think you'd have to reduce the quantities on this one, as it serves 12, but it sounds quite nice. You could prep it all in the evening, and switch the slow cooker on just before you go to bed.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I suspect a lot of American's would find the idea of black pudding rather repellent! Generalisation of course, but you never see meat in its unbutchered form and offal is rare I think too... and I don't mean cooked on the pink side LOL!

Haven't been successful cooking and freezing mushrooms. I sometimes put mushroom soup in the freezer, but don't find it brilliant, bits seem to be tough somehow.

I've seen recipes on American websites for something called a "Breakfast Burrito" which seems to be an entire cooked breakfast wrapped in a tortilla which can be frozen then microwaved-don't think they include black pudding though!

as my fav microwave meal from my youth - a couple of slices of bacon (raw), a few sliced mushrooms (raw), a hand full of grated cheese, fresh cracked pepper and a couple of eggs over the top. Pop this in the M/Wave for a few mins and slap between two pieces of fresh bread or toast with masses of butter and
    brown sauce!
