Early PCSPS pension?

I have a final salary pension with the civil service, which I can get when I am 60. I no longer work there and am 54. As my health is poor and getting worse, my chances of reaching 60 is not good. Is it possible to get your pension earlier? I could do with the money now and I would hate to pay in for all those years and not get a penny back.

You put a case to the pension administrators or the human resources department and they will look into it. You may find that it is available at 55 without penalty and they may be willing to waive the penalty depending on their findings.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm sorry your health is not good. You should contact Capita Hartshead, who administer the pensions, for advice on your options. At the least you should be able to get an actuarially reduced pension, but it's possible that your health may be taken into account too, I don't know for sure. Their number is 0870 1699700.0
