I've got a Moulinex (it has DAE2 underneath) that works very well and has an ice crusher. I must admit I don't use it as much as I should but it works fine when i do. Amazon is a easy site good for looking at reviews etc.

I got a Kitchen Aid a few years a go - it was far from cheap (£90) and was the OH and I's Christmas present to ourselves (we don't exchange gifts but go and look for something that we both need or want for the house) plus some vouchers that I had saved. This is a similar one (mine is black)

It has a glass goblet, which is supposed to be better if you want to do ice a lot.
The only problem that I have found with it is that if I use it to grind nuts and seeds in it then some gets stuck down by the side of the blades and misses being processed.
  • I got a blender from freecycle a few weeks ago. I mainly wanted it for blending the left over veg peelings and skins before they go in the worm farm so couldnt jsutify the cost. I got several replies - maybe start here and when you know how much you willl use it then buy one that reflects the amountof use it will get.
