London, Monday 19th November, Smashing Pumpkins have just announced a UK Arena tour for February 2008.
Smashing Pumpkins have already made a rapturous return to the live arena with a number of shows across North America and Europe in 2007. Kerrang! described their Paris show as ""stunning"" and they also received unanimous praise for their Shepherds Bush Empire show that sold-out immediately. The band also received amazing reviews when they returned to the UK in August to headline the Leeds and Reading festival and their recent album ''Zeitgeist'' has already been a global success and debuted at #4 in the UK album charts.
Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in music history. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released ''Gish'', their influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including ''Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness'' and ''Siamese Dream''. The pivotal group''s many hits include ''Disarm,'' ''Today,'' ''Cherub Rock,'' ''1979,'' ''Tonight, Tonight'' and ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings'' - songs that defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate, influencing a whole new generation.
