working abroad

afternoon all,
i've been fortunate enough to land a job in kuala lumpur, and just wanted to ask for advice people here may be able to give. specifically any advice regarding living and working in kuala lumpur, as well as any general advice regarding working abroad, ie taxes, etc (are there any forms one has to complete regarding taxes before leaving the country to work abroad?)
in addition, as i'm a student and therefore in the process of paying off my student loan, how does working abroad affect this? the contract will initially be only 3 months, with the salary will be below that of the repayment threshold, and whilst i am aware that i have to inform the SLC of my situation, should i only do so once i've been offered a permanent contract?
many thanks in advance.

Make sure you open all the accounts you need before you go. Once you are an expat Banks etc will treat you differently as you will no longer meet the UK Resisdent at time of opening account.
So make sure you have the best Current and share trading accounts already open before you leave as a 3 month contract abroad can lead to anything. It has cost me time and missed out on best deals by not doing that before I left the UK.
