yipee just saved £407 !!

hi i asked for some advice a while ago about full and final settlements

i just phoned capital one and they will reduce my £1107 debt to £700 providing i pay in 28 days which i can just manage by frantically saving and not spending much on xmas !!!

:T :T i am chuffed to bits as it just leaves the one cc after that which is £1980 and i'm paying £25 a month interest free at the mo.

    Just make sure you get it in writing that it is in full and final settlement .... well done!

    however i feel that they can justify these huge reductions due to their massive fees and charges -my £407 is a p*ss in the ocean to them but a small fortune to me !:rotfl:

    How does this work? Do you have to be finacially struggling to make/miss payments. Only I owe MBNA £1300 would they reduce if I offered a payment in full of a lesser amount?

    for me , my ex ran up the debt then left (long story)
    so from november 2006 i was paying them £1 a month and they froze all interest and charges. recently,i started p/t work so was paying £10.50 a week. i have been saving hard and my dad helped me clear another debt ,so have had more money saved .
    if you genuinely can't meet your minimum payments (you'll need proof)
    they can be helpful as they know they can't get blood out of a stone.
