DVD player - no sound

Have a Toshiba DVD player, which has been great up till now.
However, just after moving house, no sound coming from TV when playing DVD.

Hooked up DVD player to new home cinema system, sounds comes out of that fine.

Hopefully just as simple as the three point cable to/from TV needing replaced, but sure I tried connecting to TV with SCART and still no sound.

If not the leads, what's likely to be the problem?

  • i had a similar problem last week and sussed it yesterday.

My DVD player has a manual setting to choose between either 5.1 or standard sound. #i'd unplugged my 5.1 a bit back and not used it since... played with the settings, back to standard sound and works again
