I'm one of those newbies who has to tell you I think I may not have posted this in the right place-and Im sorry if thats the case.
Can anyone give me some tips about SW London and where's good, in terms of rent and facilities for me and baby. I only use busses as tubes and trains are a nightmare with the stroller and I have cerebral palsy in a mild form, so stairs and long distance walks are a no no.
I moved to London from South Africa in June 2007 with my then 1 year old son. My BF proposed and so we headed here. Before we moved here he was living with some mates in Wandsworth and had to find a place within budget quickly. Said home is a studio in Streatham Hill on the common. It was a newly renovated building but has been nightmares between damp and faulty smoke alarms( the short of it).We have decided not to renew the lease in May as baby now also needs more space (as do we). When OH chose the flat it was because it was near a main bus route for me to get used to the public transport system. Now he has left the decision to me as to where we live next. OH works near liverpool street station but mostly goes into work on his motorbike.
Id be glad to hear any opinions please.

if you do not want to move too far then try the mitcham area, i livd there for 7 years and never had a problem.
you can get busses to all major local shopping areas ( morden, sutton, croydon, streatham, tooting)
tram links is also more convenient for shooping in wimbledon and croydon.
we had a new born baby and lived there till she was 5 and found local travalling on buses no problem at all.
we only moved because i now have a job with tied accomodation. (but still in the localish area.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..
