DELL 2005FPW WIDESCREEN TFT - Current Dell deal any good?

Well my Samsung 172V TFT is rubbish :). Not really, it is a good screen but now I need to get a DVI TFT with a rotating screen facility.

Anyway, I have decided on the DELL 2005FPW TFT monitor. Looked around on the Internet for people selling new ones they may have acquired during some interesting Dell offers (i.e. BOGOF and BOGOHP) but the second I found one the guy sold it to someone local!

Therefore, I have reached the conclusion it is easiest to order from Dell directly. At the moment they have 'discounted' the monitors until 29/06.

DELL
Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20'' widescreen LCD Flat Panel Monitor. 300cd/m2 brightness, 600:1 contrast, 16ms response time. Midnight Grey TCO99.

£531.10
£369.30
incl. VAT, shipping
[You Save £161.80]

Is that a decent deal? Or have they gone cheaper in the past? I really don't want to fall into a trap of ordering what I think is a good deal and then finding out the day after this offer ends they have some other offer which ends up even cheaper! Not clued up on the prices of these things anymore, a year and a half ago I walked out of Argos with this Samsung in my hands for the sum of £270! Now they're £140 odd and getting cheaper :(

Also, any discounts for first time ordering etc :D

You'd have to have to be a full time, professional gamer or have superhuman reactions to get te most out of that monitor at that price.

You said it yourself that they're £140 odd (if that) so why spend £370? If you've got money to burn, then I there's no point fussing over a couple of quid!

If you want to save £170, then have a look at this monitor. Granted it's an inch smaller and not as good contrast, but it's £170 quid cheaper..

The £140 was for a basic cheap 17" TFT monitor, not this model!

You would be surprised how much prices leap as the inches go up

This is the best deal on a 20.5" Widescreen display I have seen...With the rotating screen facility and other essential features (Height adjustable stand, USB ports built in, ports for S-Video input etc).

To compare, the Apple variant of this technology is getting on for £600, and uses the exact same technology inside! (Same display manufacuturer).

    :)

Those 20" models will go the same way as the 15/17" ones price-wise then. it seems that they're massively over priced at the moment, so I wouldn't bother!

Well the price dropped by a few more quid so I just decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

Wish I hadn't had to arrange for a special delivery time though - Must have spent hours on the phone trying to understand the indians!!!

(If the price drops any further, I will get them to cashback or give me freebies :D)
