Mine turned out to be a duff 'un. Just couldn't get it to communicate with the pc, so I took it back. They didn't have any left in stock. I went to Poundland afterward, and they happened to have a karaoke dvd, so I bought that instead - will get a cheap mic and plug it into the stereo for youngest daughter and her friends to sing along with the dvd at her birthday sleepover, which was the reason I bought the I-Sing in the first place.

Anyone got a spare bed for me that night? Four 9 year old girls together in one house is bad enough as it is without slinging Kylie et al into the equation.
  • Has anyone else tried it out? If so, what is it like?

I've got one reserved for pick up on Monday and am wondering whether it is worth buying or not.

Bought mine today but not tried it as I'll prob give it away for a birthday gift. One thing to point out to you if you're not sure about buying one is that it's excluded from the 30 day money back guarantee so can only be returned if faulty. :hello:

We got one today. Charged it up, and this one actually works. So far have only copied two songs to it. And what a fun job that was doing the lyrics for the display - not! You use the program they provide you with - play the song, and then type in (or C&P) lyrics to line up with the timing of the song, pausing each time. For a four minute song I reckon we spent about 25 minutes transferring lyrics.

I'm sure we'll get better with practice.

Have never tried karaoke, but I'd have to say I doubt the sound quality of this can be anywhere near as good as the real thing - it's only a hand-held speaker after all. But my little girl is more than happy.

And the microphone I bought at PoundWorld is rubbish - can only just hear it. I'm going to take it to pieces and see if there are any bits loose - apart from the bit in my head that thought it might actually be any good that is! :D

Definitely not - but then I am a cheapskate!

Not even sure I would have paid £20 for it. I would probably then have thought about buying a cheap karaoke set-up, which would be easier to use, though of course you then have to buy cds to go with it. Having said that, I didn't buy it for me, and I doubt I'll ever use it.

It's a solid piece of kit - the casing is pretty thick and rubberised. I would imagine it will take a few knocks, so probably at least part of the original price reflects the build quality.
  • Now down to £8.99 - If you can track one down.

Managed to find one in Balham @ £8.99.

Just found an easier way to get the lyrics on the I-Sing. Find and download MINILYRICS software (its free). Then when you open windows media player it automatically searchs for the lyrics files (lrc) and will start when the song starts. Click on the top left corner of the MINILYRICS box (on the black line at the top) while it is running the song click on Lyrics in the drop down box -then save lyrics in mp3 file and choose Embedded sychronised lyrics (top option) just tick the box then okay. This saves the lyrics into the song in Windows media player. Connect the i-sing via usb then go to sync in windows media player and drag the song you have saved your lyrics into and then sync. Job done. This sounds difficult but it is really easy (took me hours to figure this out)

Make sure you have the latest media player. Also it sometimes won't let you save lyrics in some songs (protected) if so try copying your original disc and the try to save lyrics in the copied songs.

    Hope this helps :j
  • Thanks Hoolet will pass info to a friend who has one and has been trying to set up the lyrics.
