Sky+ Protection Plan - Is it worth it?

I had a cold call from Sky asking me if I wanted to sign up to their Sky+ Protection Plan for £9.99 per month. I said I would think about it.

Personally I think it is a bit steep, but I have heard that a call out to repair a faulty Sky+ box once the 12 month gurantee is up is £65 but the repair comes with a 3 month warranty.

Question is the Sky+ Protection Plan worth it?

Many thanks in advance...

Good in the sense it protects all the sky or sky+ boxes that you have in the household....think it covers reconnections too... Expensive though should you not make a claim in a year.

I personally bought a warranty with the Sky+ box from a retailer as it proved to be better for me. Have changed my remote twice already meaning I have reclaimed over 75% of the warranty in that alone since they are £25 each... Will endeavour to have the box exhanged for a new one towards the end of that cover should something untoward happen!

The cover suited me in that the retailer gave me a nominal discount for taking it out at time of purchase, and it was worth having simply because the disk in Sky+ boxes do go wrong as they are constantly inuse getting hammered. 3 years cost me under £70 for Accidental and Breakdown Continuous (multiple claims allowed) cover. £50 recouped already in shiney new remotes!

Pros and cons both ways really....

I personally think that the Sky+ protection paln is pretty good value. It actually covers any Sky+ box in the house AND the dish and LNB and HANDSETS!I have already had my digibox replaced under the terms and ended up with a new better model!Beware other protection plans that do not cover the whole set-up!

    Agreed,

Pros and cons both ways....but £360 for 3 years total cover with sky as oposed to £70 retailer cover for the same 3 year period on the sky+ unit itself + remote does it for me... extra boxes depends if you have multiroom or not....

Unless the dish gets mis-aligned, there should be no issues which to go for...I am sure sky would send someone around to remedy that should it happen rather than lose a customer or at least meet you halfway on the cost....£60/30 maybe ?
