Natanddan,
I have also been looking for a cam recently since my 13 yo Sony Video 8 cam has just given up the ghost. Was looking at the 92E, you say its fantastic. Could you shed anymore light? pros/cons etc.

any one know about the
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 Digital Camera
is it worth buying?
its going for around £280Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Hi Billy The Kid
Not been using it for that long but will detail what I have found so far.
PROS
Very compact.
Great touch screen lcd screen.
Easy to navigate through screen prompts which reduces the need for lots of buttons and switches on the body.
Great recording quality.
Great sound quality.
Point and record or flick a switch to take an instant photo (very easy)
Just load the disc into your dvd drive and you can just drag and burn additional cd's/dvd's
CONS
Does not come with camera bag.
Does not come with dvd-rw disc.
No editing software included with this model (although the Sony software is pretty basic and you would be better getting Nero etc).
You need to read the manual as there are lots of different ways you must record to be able to view in different machines, but it does not take long to get the hang of it.
Finalizing the discs take quite a while to complete depending on the amount of data recorded and you need to plug the charger in or it will drain the battery, you can however buy the larger capacity battery that will last 5 hours.
Based on the findings so far I would rate this camcorder 8/10
Hope this goes some way to helping you decide which one to buy!

I read a couple of reviews on other sites which said that the Sony DcrDVD92 camcorder doesn't have a USB or firewire port, so you can't connect it to your PC to edit your movies. Plus, the format the digital files are produced in is not supported by any movie editing software. Best to read reviews before you go out and buy.0

Last year went to Jessops in Bradford. Checked out a Nikon camera and then went on the internet to find a better price. Printed out the details, went back to Jessops, spoke to the manager. My saving was £67 on a £170 camera and he had to ring Head Office but matched the price. Was very chuffed. Better still, the day after Nikon printed a £20 cashback voucher in the paper, backdated to before i bought the camera, so that was nice! God bless the Internet.0

Well I took the plunge yesterday and went to the unbeatable shop in Crawley. Looked at the website first which said the camera was out of stock. Shop manager made one call for me, I paid and duly walked out and round the corner to the pukka sony shop to pick up my boxed (not grey import, a lot of the cheap net sites supply non uk kit and you have to search for uk instructions from the web) in front of sony customers who would have to pay an extra 100 notes there. Well chuffed.
As for the camera not having a DV out, I'm not personally bothered as I just want to copy from DVD player to recorder to archive. I just dont have the time to do PC editing.
Very pleased with the camcorder looks dead sexy, I'd give it 7-8/10 extra features would be nice, but you have to pay for them.

Just a word of warning. Cheap optical recordable media is cheap for a reason.
That's not to say that you should go for overpriced discs either, but consider that you're recording your movies so you can watch them in years to come. Recordable DVDs and CD do not have a infinite lifespan and, in my experience, the cheaper, the worse they are.
If you value the memories enough to spend £400 on a camera, then surely you value them enough to buy decent media so that you won't have to rely soley on your memory in three years time.0 -
John Lewis will definately price match - although only against a local bricks 'n' mortar retailer officially.
I bought this very Camcorder from John Lewis about a month ago. They pricematched the best price I found online (which was based in Birmingham - and was within ten miles of JL). They made a quick phone call to the other retailer to check price and availability, and then matched it immediately.
I was very impressed - got it for the price I wanted, with immediate collection, and they throw in a two year warranty free.0 -
Hi Billy The Kid
Hope my posting helped, If you are considering buying some editing software I would certainly recommend Nero! I think unbeatable are a real professional outfit which is very rare nowadays so thumbs up to them and I will certainly be using them again!0 -
I love price matching in Jessops. Won't take pixmania prices but will take most. If you have concerns about unbeatable.co.uk then don't. They are affiliated with Which? magazine. Only them and Hughes Direct are, so they must be good.Niggy_G wrote:Actually if you walk into Jessops with a print out of your best price they will match that, even though they don't advertise that they do so, which is better because you get the security of them being a chain of high street shops.
They only match UK companies though.
