Experian Credit Ref. Query

Anyone have any ideas why an unused mail order account would show 'U' for 6 months then start showing '0' for the following 4 months thereafter on a credit ref?
The account was never used......I (foolishly) jumped on the Studio free chocs and socks bandwagon that was on the go a while ago and they obviously opened this unwanted account at the time.
Being the weekend I can't query direct with the company concerned but it looks almost like the account has been reactivated again even although the balance shows as £0?
If it hasn't been, then why would it not continue to show 'U' ?

Hi
These entries are representative of monthly payments made, as u suggest U = unused, 0 = zero months late, i.e. payments made on time, 1 = 1 month late, 2 = months late, and so on.
It would appear that account is showing as active with a 0 entry, luckily your ghost account is being paid on time on a monthly basis but you need to contact the company in question and confirm account activity and get them to advise Experian accordingly.
Hope this helps :j0 -
Thanks scml, it does appear to me that the account is showing as active too. Very strange given the amount of 'U's previously (and the fact that I've not used it, lol).
Will contact them first thing Monday.Herman - MP for all!

This happened to me when I got a free 'gift' of chocolates and sports socks from Studio. I noticed an active credit a/c from them on my credit expert file, so I merely phoned them up and requested that they close the a/c. I did get a letter asking me to think again about closing the said a/c to which I replied 'No Thanks, I don't want it' and it was duly closed.~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
Phoned them this morning and girl couldn't tell me why account status had changed....gave me an 0870 number to call to ask. Yeah right. No alternative number on the saynoto0870 site so as she confirmed the account hadn't been used, I'll just leave it. I'm not that curious.
She has closed the account but has said that I will get the same letter as you mentioned above, Ember. Lot of palaver for socks eh?
