Hi all,
I have £100 of bagged 10p and 20p. I normally put 1p, 2p and 5p collections in those counting machines that take a cut for charity but I think £100 is a bit much for that. Do you know if banks will take it free of charge if it is all correctly bagged ?
Cheers

I bag all my spare change up (in the correct bags of course!) and take it to our bank. They are more than happy to change it into notes for me.
Then I either treat me and hubby or treat the grandchildren... usually its the grandchildren!A family that eats together, stays together

Some banks will only accept it if it will be credited to an account - my branch of Abbey does this."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I can't see any problem, as long as it is correctly bagged. I've never been questioned or refused when I go to the bank with the contents of my change tin, which can be up to £200 in various denominations.
The day my bank complain about me depositing my money is the day I close the account and go elsewhere! If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Yes that's a point. If I put it in my account they cannot really refuse. It amazing how quickly it adds up if you just put them in a tin as you get them.0 -
A lot of bank accept coins in bags. The Halifax only allow 5 bags per account per day into an account. Unless it is going into a childrens account or charity account. Building society can be a bit different they can only take a certain amount per day as well, but again it depends on which one it is.
Good Luck and congrats for saving that much in change.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot
