.. and withHM baking you know if there's stuff in like Hydrogenated veg oils... Have read most of this thread and not spotted this point. If you are following a low sodium diet , low fat diet, high fibre diet etc etc you are in control of what goes in.

I agree - HM baking is healthier because you are just putting simple, wholesome ingredients together - flour, eggs, butter, sugar. There is nothing intrinsically unhealthy about those ingredients. Everything in moderation so you could stop buying biscuits/cake to eat every day and bake biscuits/cake once a week as a treat.
In a lot of baking recipes I actually cut the sugar by half and it is fine for me - mind you I don't have a very sweet tooth! But you could try cutting down on the sugar each time you make something until you are at a level you enjoy.0
