I;ve always bought from the charity shops throughout the year for my two mates as we always do a 'santa bag' for each other, plus birthdays but this year I'm going the whole hog and setting my target forn finishing the lot by August...............OH looks a bit bemused when I show him my latest bargains but I told one of the shop assistants this morning what I was doing and she said what a brilliant idea. I'm trying to do it all as cheaply as possible so keeping a notebook of what I've spent so far. Only going out once a week stops me buying stuff for myself 'on impulse'............when I go out I'm on a mission as it were.........................lol:j

Yep, they all think I am crazy .........right up until about two months before Christmas when I have most things in and they haven't started. Then I get 'you're so organised' and 'you're so lucky'.
I always get comments about how unusual my cards are - all bought in January for 99p a box from 'posh' shops - how beautifully wrapped my gifts are - paper. bows and boxes bought in January too.

Yep, like mikki2d, they all think I'm crazy at the moment, but when it gets to November and I'm 90% finished (I like a little bit of last-minute "festiveness"!), they are all envious - particularly as I have bought things in sales at bargain prices throughout the year so my last minute purchases tend to be "extras" and stocking fillers, while my "big" presents have been gained for a fraction of their real worth...!! :D

Up till November I'll be crazy. When I'm at home drinking hot chocolate and my friends are battling cold winds, icy rain and hordes of fellow shoppers, I will be fortunate and organised.

    And smug.

  • Yup, OH thinks I'm nuts, until he realised I'd got everyones xmas pressies before December, & how each time he said "You do realise its .... birthday tomorrow" which normally got the answer, yep, his pressie was bought Months ago, its in the cupboard waiting for you to wrap it.

Unfortunately buying my sons class xmas cards yesterday may have backfired, I bought jigsaw cards & ones you can have santa, rudolph or a combination of them mixed showing (hat, feet & main part are on hinged pieces of card, like the kids books), OH now thinks the guys at his work would love them, he's never given cards out before! Gona hide them & hope he forgets, lol.

My mom thought I was mad until I rang her this morning to let her know I'd got her 1 4m roll of shiney silver paper to use as general wrapping paper, 3 5m rolls of cream paper with mistletoe on and 3 2m rolls of red merry christmas paper to use at the end of the year. "Are you mad" she exclaimed "that musta cost a bit, why on earth buy it so early" After hearing it only cost £1 the lot she was very happy & plans to take a bit more notice of my money saving tips, lol.

  • I've already made great headway with my Christmas shopping and yesterday I bought all my Easter eggs in Woolies at a £1 each. Bargain!
