Hi
Have posted previously & the cheque is actually due to come to us this weekend. Total will be approx £28,000.
Our plan is: open cash Isa in husbands name for this tax year (i already haveone & direct debits will take it upto limit come end of march)
then add next years allowance in both of them come april.
Then looking at Newcastle BS Net Issue of 6.43% annual (net 5.14%) monthly 6.28%(monthly 5.02%) for the bulk of it whilst feeding £500 a month into Yorkshire building sociey's regular saver (Paying 6.85% gross- 5.48% net)
however we need to keep £3,000 available towards fees for moving house as thats on the cards this year.
Anyone got any ideas on whether this is an ok plan & decent enough returns on the money? We are risk averse (I think its called- scared in other words) as never had this much money ever- husband's share of inheritance you see so he wants to make the most of it & be able to sleep at night knowing that we'd be ok for a good while if either lost their job (but yes- we do have cover as well).
