I do believe these haven't even been spotted by the vigilant affiliate site that always bring them to our attention... anyway today only at Dell and you can't get to them off the homepage ;-)
Inspiron 1720 17" 160Gb 1.6 Intel Dual Core 2Gb RAM £399
Inspiron 6400 15" 160Gb 1.73 Intel Dual Core 2Gb RAM £349
includes DVD writers, wireless and Vista Home Premium (i.e. media centre capability though no TV tuners included), and delivery
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/emea/segments/dhs/promos/uk/en/odg_online_coupon?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&dgc=BA&cid=5186&lid=121454
Go get 'em...
***PLEASE, DON'T GET INTO SPEC. BASHING AND TALKING ABOUT THE VIRTUES OF XP VS. VISTA, CORE-2 vs PENTIUM DUAL CORE ETC.***
For someone looking for a decent spec laptop as an alternative to a desktop these are cracking machines. Period. You might want to go for a bigger battery at marginal cost, and the 1720 lets you have an integrated webcam in the lid for £29 too but only get it if you need it (and actually, better off without it if you've got kids)
The £299 machine on there is definitely nothing special - it's a poor spec Celeron machine and you're better off waiting for one of the other magic deals to materialise than buy that. But if you can stretch to another £50 or £100 then these are great specs.

What's Quidco?... (I Know The Answer, I'm Just Being Daft)
The MSE Dictionary
Loophole - A word used to entice people to read clearly written Terms and Conditions.
Rip Off - Clearly written Terms and Conditions.
Terms and Conditions - Otherwise known as a loophole or a rip off.0 -
I do wonder sometimes - it's got to be easier to pull up google and whack in QuidCo to find out what it is right than posting that question here?
But yes... we see it day in day out here - along with "where can I find the cheapest..." or "but that's rubbish and there's a better one here" pointing to something that costs loads more or is nothing like the original deal.

I purchased one of these back in April when they were £349 and have no complaints whatsoever. It's a very deal for the price.
One thing that DELL do mention though, to quote them "Due to unprecedented demand for this system, we regret to inform you of a prolonged delivery time on your order"
Still, it would be well worth the wait !0 -
I just noticed that from the link in the post you just deleted, exel1966

I personally think the 1720 is a better deal (marginally slower CPU will be imperceptible to most, but the 17" screen on a desktop-replacement type laptop is a real boon). The thanks button is here to the right. Yes I tried to post a link to the FULL spec with it, but it just didn't work properly and makes for difficult reading so removed it.
I went for the 6400 as It's more portable and I already have a 17" which I use as a desktop machine, either way they're both very good offers.0 -
You can improve the processor on the 1720 to a T5250 for £20 which maybe worth doing.0

I can't find the offer if I go via my quidco link (only the £50 off offer) and I won't get quidco if I use your link. Is there a way of getting Quidco and this offer?0 -
Yes go through quidco, then type the Dell E value-number of the machine you want in the search box. That's what I did when ordering mine and I got the 5%.
EDIT : [STRIKE]It would now appear as if the offer has ceased as the web pages I was looking at have now gone.[/STRIKE]
I've found it again :- http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&kc=&oc=N01640060 -
I can stlil get to those deals from the original link I posted (which was off an advert banner in eBay, of all places!)
Go through QuidCo to Dell then search in the top-right box for N0172003 to get to the 1720 £399 unit, or N0164006 code for the 6400 £349 machine
Or in the address bar of your browser window that opened to display Dell from QuidCo manually paste in this link for the 1720:
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&kc=&oc=N0172003
or this for the 6400:
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&kc=&oc=N0164006
(you have to do it in the same window for QuidCo to continue tracking)The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!
