Help buy a cheap MIELE WASHING MACHINE!! P-L-E-A-S-E

Hi all,

I recently moved into my first home and the washing machine I was given has died on me. I have read several threads on MSE over the past few months and Miele has had the best reviews. I would like to take advantage of their 10 year guarantee offer http://www.miele.co.uk/Promotions/PromotionList.aspx?fid=6505. Miele Washing Machines are more expensive than others but seem a good investment because they are built to last and I think 10 years guarantee to back this up is fantastic.

Unfortunately however, I am on a very tight budget. Can anyone find a Miele Washing Machine that is affordable? ie competative price, in the sale, vouchers, other discounts such as egg card, quidco etc. The models in the promotion are W4144 WPS, W4446 WPS, W4449 WPS, W3985 WPS.

I need your help - I have been looking since the last promotion from Aug 07 - Nov 07 and have not found anything that stands out!!

Thanks loads in advance for your help and efforts!
Dane

Hi,i was debating on a meile, the certain ones that your interested in are £720 and up,i have a new washing machine coming today, its a silver bosch,2 yr guarentee, and it was £277 ,i bought it on line,my parents loaned me half the money and my dad advised me that works out £140 a year approx,i'm hoping it lasts longer than the 2 yr guarentee, but we are a family of six,i do an awful lot of washing, partner is a groundworker, kids do lots of sports so it is endless,i'm not trying to talk you out of buying a meile, because if i had thet amount to spend i would opt for that make,i'm just giving a good alternative moneywise, kelkoo is a good comparison site

bought my miele from comet clearance ,@£250 delivered , last summer , was told look to see if transit bolts are still in place as a lot are returned because they cant be delivered and are classed as seconds then , mine was as new all manuals etc an absolute bargin , and the machine is a totally different wash ,less creasing and easy iron and is near silent comared to any other make i have had inc bocsh.
  • Thanks for all the responses so far. Really appreciate all your help.

I have used all the price comparison sites I am familiar with but found no eye catching affordable prices.

Several things I have read have urged people to avoid Comet Clearance. I have heard mixed reviews, it sounds like it’s luck of the draw. However, I don’t think Miele will honour their 10 year guarantee for auctions. You bid final price on Comet Clearance so it is not included in the promotion. If I could get one off Comet Clearance for £250 I would be over the moon but prices seem to go way above this….

If I was buying it with just 5 year warranty I may as well go for a Siemens Washing Machine which currently comes with 5 year guarantee for 2/3 of the price. Although I really do want a Miele.

I thought it would be really good if someone could find a good deal for a Miele Washing Machine and also take advantage of 10 year guarantee promotion.

I know Dixons, Empire Direct have codes regularly. I know Comet (or Currys?) had a code for Miele products around 2 months ago. Also, not sure if certain suppliers offer a lot of cashback to lower the price? I’ve never used Quidco

i rang miele about the warrantee and they said if it came from a uk store and was unregistered previously it was ok , now isnt the best time to be looking though ,dark evenings give people the time to scan the web and prices tend to be higher , must admit mine was bought last week of july (peak holiday time ) the other option is buy a different make machine from john lewis i think their electricals used to come with 5 years gaurantee as standard

Where are you based? Could there be a comet clearance shop near to you, as i know there is one in possilpark/glasgow which is not too far for me to go and hopefully i may get one there without having to go via the auction and hopefully get the 5 year parts and labour or if the price is right the bosch.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • So I reckon that as long as I buy a new item from Comet Clearance rather than one that is used/returned (which would be second hand) then I should qualify for the warranty. However, I live in Barrow-in-Furness in the North West near the Lake District in Cumbria. The only Comet Clearance store I am aware of is in Glasgow which is 3 and a half hours away. If I found the right deal it may be worth the journey.

Most John Lewis washing machines tend to come with 3 years guarantee now. Siemens with 5 years (at the mo). Miele are very highly regarded tho and supposedly are built to last for 20 years or so which would be a really good investment.

If I don’t find anything now I might wait until the summer (lighter nights so people aint scanning the web thus sales go down) and hope the 10 year promotion is on then. Miele appear to be running this promotion often now.

Thanks again for all your help so far. Keep em coming…
  • I just rang up Comet Clearance and they said their items are not eligible for this Miele promotion, regardless if it is a new item (which is cosmetically damaged). I have emailed Miele for some clarity.

They still have good deals though because they are half the price from any other supplier and the machines are still built to last. They only come with 12 months guarantee and don’t deliver outside of Scotland.
