Getting rid of the debt....

  • Thought this month was going to be a long hard month what with getting paid earlier in December, but as it stands, things aren't going too badly. My workings show that its unlikely that we will have to dip into savings in the next few weeks, thought we would have to due to buying a new PC over Christmas but all is looking well.

Going away for a long weekend on Saturday, promised myself that I won't worry about the cost or what we spend, just want to enjoy myself after a long long month at work, hopefully the damage won't be too much!
  • Well the damage wasn't too bad, spent around £250 which can easily spend on a weekend at home with shopping, eating out, weekend entertainment etc.

Done really well on the spending this month, normally by this point in the month I've spent around £500 but its standing at around £300 :)
  • Must admit - I am struggling at the moment, whilst a few days ok the montly spend wasn't looking too bad, after another weekend away, the damage is such that I will more than likely have to dip into the savings by the end of the month, especially since the gas and electric bill will be due soon & I have a feeling it could amount to at least £200 :( and then when we complete on the house there will be the rest of the solicitors fees to pay.

Argh! Was hoping to pay off at least £175 off the cards this month but about £50 short. One of the cards interest free period runs out very shortly, and whilst the balance is only £150 I really don't wanna be paying interest on it & need to clear it, but think I am going to struggle.

I am gutted that the house purchase has slowed down, but feel that the longer it takes the better as at the minute, I don't think we are ready to start paying a mortgage.
  • Well the gas & electric bill wasn't too bad, £120, however, they were both estimates & both way under, so i'm guessing that when we all move out in a months time we could have another bill to pay.... Hopefully won't be more than £100 but I guess we've used the electric & gas, cannot expect the landlord to pay for it.

My eye test is due this month & managed to get a free one at D&A with a Necter voucher I got sent, which will save me nearly £20. I decided I wanted to keep my old frames if my perscription changes and asked Specsavers how much it will cost to reglaze them, £99 a frame! Robbing gits... I have 2 frames so would be £200, plus the cost of my OH glasses (which he knows he is going to need when he has his first eye test in years soon). Gonna be expensive... I think I may just get new glasses, would certainly be cheaper.
  • A lot of my ebay items have ended today, and I am set to make over £250! £150 will be going on my Abbey card, which means it will be paid off in full :) Dunno what to do with the rest, either pay it off another card or put in the savings, either way, just getting rid of tat I don't want anymore so delighted with the outcome!
  • Final total from last nights auctions was £283.47, very very pleased. Still have 16 more items on sale as well.
  • Well, with the money I have raised from ebay, and also some bingo winnings from playing on the free sites I have been able to pay off one of my credit cards this morning, along with my Littlewoods account. Very very please, infact, I'd say I am more than pleased :) Its nice to be making a dent in them!

Got £92.30 back from my cashback credit card today :)

As we clear the balance in full every month, we've paid no interest and its certainly something that we have benefitted over the last few months.

Finally moved into our new home, totted up how much the bills, mortgage etc will be a few nights ago and it was scary! Don't think I am going to have much spare money to overpay on debts for the next few months or so.
