I think about 15 from my panasonic. I try to leave as long as poss before I have to slice. I use a kenwood (OLD!) slicer
I used to have a kenwood slicer, but I thought it was useless for slicing bread. I use my 30year old electric knife, but I'm can get almost as many slices by hand now, so I must be getting better.

Hello trying, just a few suggestions for you

Make at least two loaves today so you that you can safely hide one away and you are always one ahead if you see what I mean. Only slice this second loaf the following day (or at least when it is very very very cold). Not only will you cut slices more easily but you can cut them more thinly and thererfore get more slices out of your loaf. You can always freeze these slices if they haven't been used immediately and use them for toast. By doing this I usually get 15 slices out of my panasonic loaf.

Other suggest is to heat your knife..... I know I know it doesn't sound possible, but a very lovely old lady gave me this tip and it works! Dip your bread cutting knife in hot/very warm water, dry it and then cut your bread it will be easier to cut. Repeat to keep your knife hot!

  • Thanks for that tip livealot, I'll try the hot water. It seems like I'm getting about the average number of slices out of a panasonic loaf. The thing with trying to make 2 per day, is that it takes at least 4hours, and sometimes even 5 hours:eek: to do one loaf, then I need to let it cool down before I can start again. At least my old bm only took 3hours per cycle. This new panasonic bm does take a bit of getting used to, I was very uncomfortable with the idea of putting the water in last, and although I'm getting used to it, I can't bring myself to try using the timer programme.
How do you all get on with the timer function? Has anyone ever tried putting the water in first with a panasonic bm? What happens:confused:
