Old style health remedies

Please bear in mind that we are not pharmacists or doctors though.

After reading that someone just spent over £7 on Lemsips , and pointing out that if they feel they must lower their body temperature (high temperature believed to be the body's natural way of fighting infection, thereby getting rid of your lurgy quicker) to take generic paracetamol that costs less than 50p, what do you take when ill?

If I have a sore throat I drink honey, lemon and hot water. If I'm feeling rough with it I'll take a couple f paracetamol too.
When I was little, I remember my Nan using warmed olive oil for ear aches.

It annoys me when the health remedy companies have 'new and improved' meds that cost twice as much or more than the generics, just because the contain caffeine or some such.
Illegitimi non carborundum.
