Pre paid card

Hey im wanting to get a pre paid card as a gift for someone whos going travelling in about 6 months. I want to get the card now and keep putting a bit on it each month, then give it to them before they go. Has anyone any experience of using them?Any views on which is the best, im not wanting to pay monthly fees and wanting it to have low fees for getting money out abroad. I was thinking about a mastercard one as mastercard is accepted all over.
