Has midwife made any suggestion on how big baby will be?
if i was you id prob get couple packs of 2 and 3-4 packets of 4, my son is only just 20lb but i have about 4 packets of 4+ and 6 packets of size 5
Also have you considered using supermarket own brands as they are just as good usually and alot cheaper?0 -
Also they dont have a use by date

sorry keep thinking of other things from when my lo was born.
We started off with tesco nappies size 2 and found these fantastic we were then given a load of pampers which caused really bad nappy rash we then moved onto huggies but these werent much better than tescos, then tried asdas but found these left crystals pn his bum. sainsburys own brand ones were really good and we now use pampers baby dry just at night time as he no longer has reaction to them and sainsburys/tesco or boots own brand during the day:o0 -

Personally, I wouldn't be stocking up that many sizes in advance, especially before the little one is born.
With my three, even though they all started off pretty much the same, they all grew differently, and used different brands at different points (as a basic example, Pampers are cut shallower than Huggies, so aren't so good for the big-bummed babies, but are softer, so a little better for ones prone to nappy rash)
I'd start with a couple of packs of size 1, and possibly a pack of new born (so long as a big baby isn't expected), and take it from there. You'll go through a pack or more a week, especially at the start, so plenty of opportunities to fine tune the brands and sizes that work.

Great spot, thanks.
RE: jammiev's questions.
We were very naive as to how many nappies we'd need, and what size - so an excellent question. I agree with other posters who say about trying different types. We found that Pampers Dry were better than huggies, mainly around the cut/fit. But these start at size 3. Our first nappies were Pampers New born (size 1-3)
Make sure you sign up to the boots parenting club, pampers.co.uk, and all those groups that then send you loads of freebie packs, a change bag, vouchers etc. You will find lots of opportunities to try out samples of everything imaginable in those packs! We also really enjoy reading the monthly pampers emails that ring so true with your new experiences. We still enjoy reading them now, at 21 months! You don't really need to stock up too much, as offers are regular, however if you do buy too many, and then find that you or baby don't like them (don't fit them), you can be assured that someone will take them off your hands. Perhaps new friedns from baby/pre/post natel groups? Great opportunity to share/exchange. We are due our second in two months, and we'll probably buy a bag of new born 1's and new born 2's. Unless you have a pretty large baby the 1's will soon get used up, and you'll have some 2's to try out, so you can make a more informed decision for your next purchase. My final tip is, if you don't already, plan to get a supermarket to deliver to you in that first week or two, with little sleep and so many new things, taking the time to go to Sainsbury's was not high on the agenda - especially when we realised how quick those nappies get used up!
The very best of luck to you.
