My brother lives next door to me and he pays more than we do and we are the same band as us he was told that he has to pay more because he moved in part way through the year can any one tellme why this is and why he has to pay more months than we do?

He will have the same annual charge as you however as he moved in during the year then the council will usually still only have allowed him to pay until January.
If he missed a payment or two or was late informing the council then they up the payments due to compensate so that the balance is still cleared by the end of Janaury..I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
