How do the CSA know we have moved?

Hi just wondering myself and my partner have recentley moved house.
The CSA sent us a letter to our new address before we had informed them,
How would they have found out?

perhaps via the inland revenue/tax credits?

they are powered with being able to do traces on non-resident parents.
  • Thanks Sara we hadnt told them yet either tho.
Thought it might have come thru the Council.

Council could have been the ones, or the PWC.

If you rent, probably council or credit reference agency. If you sold/bought the Revenue gets details from the solicitors (I think).
  • most likely to be from the other party or another gov agency. they have shared information system

If you are in a council property, then it would be them, they are linked to the DWP, who in turn inform the CSA.

Not freely they don't. The Council are the least likely as it is like getting blood out of a stone asking for confirmation that an NRP is liable at a specific address - even though they MUST provide the info when asked by the CSA. It could be that PWC notified them, then they contacted the Council to ask and had it confirmed.
  • If you get Tax credits or Child benefit your address may have updated automatically through the interlinked computer systems.
    Nothing to see here
