New 'Quality' Sofa??

OK - haveing studied the site I know NOT to get my Sofa from DFS ro any of the others with big sales.

I fell in love with a 'Joseph' one from Habitat but £800 is waaay too expensive on my student grant. The kids have just about demolished my 2 so am now desparate before the frames finally go.

I did briefly consider beanbags but really - I am a grown up - LOL.

Just want 2x2 seaters or a 3 +1 . Don't fancy Ikea either as I do't drive and my nearest one is miles away!!!

Any ideas??

TIA

Definitely not going for 2nd hand - My kids wear out sofas so need something that's going to last, and I really don't fancy Argos as I prefer to go and have a bonce on them first - find out if there are any knobbly or uncomfortable bits first!

Don't necessarily want a major bargain - just want my money's worth if you know what mean - If I'm going to spend £800-1000 then I want real quality and at least 10 years out of it then it's only £200/year.

  • Don't really know if this is relevant but we bought a couple of 2 seater chesterfield sofas from habitat in 1985 and, after 2 kids and 3 dogs, they are still going strong. (I did recover them about 3 years ago and found a fortune in loose change inside - so sofa and bank all in one!) :)

With the demise of the UK Upholstery Industry - especially in the East Midlands where I live - there have been numerous small businesses set up selling really high quality sofa's made by craftsmen who really care. Go direct to one of these and you'll get something bespoke that will last forever. On top of this you will get terrific service from the guys who make it.

But it all depends on what you want and how much you can afford. As I don't know your location it is hard to recommend someone specific.

I too am looking for a decent sofa.
There is a lot on ebay but most of the sellers dont have much feedback which puts me off.

Whats wrong with DFS they are doing 4 years 0%. Ok the quality isnt exactly fantastic but are they really that bad?
