Unit linked Allied Dunbar endowment Insurance

I have been told that I have 1250.96 units of Allied Dunbar (Zürich) whatever. The current value is said to be £33.5K, which can go up or down. Is there a way of checking the progress of these units?? Is the value likely to go Up or DOWN? Any help most appreciated.

Allied Dunbar is the name of the company your endowment policy is with. The money in your policy will be invested in a fund ( or possibly several funds). You need to find out the name of the fund (s).

Typically it might be called something like the "Balanced Managed fund".Have a look on the policy document or annual bonus statement and post the fund name then we can look it up.

and in answer to your last question it will go up and it will go down. That is the nature of investments. Its a zig zag line that over the long term you hope goes up more than savings accounts (and historically has). In the short term there will be periods of no growth and losses but they can actually be a good thing on a monthly payment contract.

Many thanks for your response, I have searched the Policy, it is just a print out giving details of Policy number and how much I need to pay every month.
One recent sheet of paper mentions that it is an Adaptable Endowment policy,

    Fund Name
Savings & protection Plan, Adaptable Endowment Plan (Managed & Start Date)

Not Sure what it all means.

I suggest you ring them up and ask for the name of the fund(s) your money is invested in.
