My 18 year old is considering starting a pension. She can afford to put away approx £30 a month. She is a student in Full Time education at our local college and has a p/t weekend job at a local shop. Where should we start, please?
I may not have thanked you but I meant to, honest!

18 and considering a pension. Wow-wee, never heard this before. :money:0

Yes, She's a bit strange! I think she must have read or heard something about pensions from somewhere as we had 20 questions from her about them the other day. I'm not sure how positive she is about it, but I thought I'd show willing!I may not have thanked you but I meant to, honest!0

She might be best investing in S&S ISAs until she is older and in full-time employment.0

won't she need a house before she needs a pension?0

Personally I would advise her to save her money in an ISA.
This is what I advised my son to do. At 18 there are alot of things he may want to save for rather than tie all his money up and not be able to touch it.
Think hard before you advise your daughter to start a pension at this age. Will she be wanting to get a car, go to university, deposit for a house, it all needs saving for. Can she afford to do this as well as paying into a pension?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

You could start some kind of pension with as little as £1 per month, so it might be worth doing something and saving a bit as well?
