old council tax bill

Hi all
I have just received a council tax bill from nearly 5 years ago, at the time I was living in a shared house with two other people. I am no longer in contact with the other two tenants. The bill is addressed to me and one other tenant.
I have been told I maybe liable for the whole amount if they cannot trace the other two tenants.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hiya, I don't know much about this but it might be worth contacting the CAB to find out what your rights are."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Correct, I'm afraid. You are solely and jointly liable for the account meaning that the local authority can pursue any of the people named on the bill, for the full amount. Do you know whether they have obtained a Liability Order??WARNING!Alcohol can make you think you are more interesting and attractive than you actually are.....0

I'd certainly get them to send you a computation of how it's worked out. I got a bill off them, just an amount, but as I'm a saddo I have all the details! I actually didn't owe them anything. Their mistake!0
