WeBuyAnyPhone.com

Hey,

Has anyone else been given an estimation from WeBuyAnyPhone.com only for it to come back drastically lower after they've assessed it?

I went through TopCashback and was offered £110 for iphone 11 and £280 for iphone 14 pro - both were unlocked and have had phone cases and screen protectors on them from new and so the handsets were in perfect condition. I was also given a £25 bonus for recycling 2 phones together.

I've had the results from their extensive testing and have been offered revised valuations of £35 for iphone 11 and £75 for iphone 14 pro and am no longer eligible for the bonus as one of the phones is worth less than £50!

They have also deducted £5 per phone for testing and so their proposed payout is £100 which differs hugely from the £415 I was hoping for both of them plus bonus.

I've contacted them to question the massive difference as the phone reports list the below as the reason for the revised valuations:

Iphone 11
Battery Health - 75%
Confirmed condition:
Light wear on the screen
Noticeable wear on the rear housing
Noticeable wear on the bezels

Iphone 14 pro
Battery Health - 74%
Confirmed condition:
Noticeable wear on the screen
Considerable wear on the rear housing
Noticeable wear on the bezels

Has anyone else any experience of using them, can I get my phones back? And are there any better phone recycling companies to use?

I think, in the main these are "scam" companies. We had similar when upgrading / part exchanging our Ipad, Sent off lots of photo's and got an initial valuation of around £50, sent it off and got a report back basically saying the screen was "scratched", (it wasn't it was perfect), and they kindly offered to "scrap it" for me, I got it returned.

I was worried that they might have damaged it, but when it came back it was fine, not a mark to be seen. I would only ever consider actually taking an item into a shop now….

I use CEX or other similar stores locally. The valuation is usually lower than you get online, but they will give you what they say, on the day, and it removes all the hassle and uncertainty.

Many prior discussions here and looking at reviews on TrustPilot the answer is probably if you describe your 7 year old phone as perfect condition you will be disappointed. If you describe it as ok condition you are probably happier. Certainly being below 80% battery health is going to get you a notable reduction in the offer as they will factor in the cost of replacing the battery

You can get your phones back if you reject their offer within the timescales. Think they return them for free unlike some other services.

Any trade in type service is going to be looking at it with a magnifying glass and I suspect most people overvalue what their old phone is worth in the same way they do their cars. Obviously sitting here cannot see what the condition of the phone was, if it was perfect as stated, has sign of 7 years of life as they have said or somewhere between the two.

The best trade-in deals by far for Samsung phones is with Samsung themselves, especially when buying the latest phones.

    Are Apple not similar?

If I can get them returned I think I will as aside from the battery health i'd say they were in perfect condition.. regretting not taking a picture of them or checking the battery myself before they were packaged up and sent!

To be honest I expected there to be some price difference to what was first quoted as I know thats how they hook you in but the 14 pro is over £200 less than first stated.

I've sent them an email so will see if that does any good although i'm definitely not holding my breath!

Even with cases and screen protectors, no phone will be in perfect condition once its been used.
