OnePoll: Your experiences

Good Morning.

Have you ever been refused payment from these without reason and then had CIA level requests for ID?, like if they can not be trusted to pay, I am supposed to trust them with my ID.

Seems a bit scammy to my eyes. Needless to say I point blank refused.

I am a member of many surveys sites (7 others) and while it is fair to say the pay is not great they have all without exception paid in full and promptly and none of them have used these procedures and tactics.

I found a few odd old threads here and there on this but thought I would seek out some contemporary experiences.

Many thanks for any input.

I was with them for many years, but ditched them about 3 or 4 years ago. I agree with you, their practices seem a little underhand. On a few occasions I was asked for ID in order to redeem my earnings - which I provided, and got paid. But then they closed my account for no valid reason - they claimed "inconsistencies" in my responses, which was not true. But they couldn't give examples of the apparent inconsistencies.

What really irked me was that many other sites will give you a warning if your responses are "not right". With this site, no such warnings are given - they just wait until you're at the payment threshold, then arbitrarily decide to close your account. Why wait until you're able to claim a payout? Why can't they give you specific examples of alleged infringements, and allow you to appeal with evidence?

I perhaps might not go as far as to say they're a scam, but certainly not worth the effort, especially given their relatively low reward rates. And their business practices are certainly less than customer-friendly.

I stopped using them a long time ago – I can’t remember why but I think it’s just because it wasn’t Val her money. I don’t remember having any problems cashing out.
You do have to bear in mind though that’s it is becoming more common to request ID for survey sites. Prolific didn’t when I first joined, but because they have report to HMRC, they wanted the full passport thing. Given the amount of money I get from I thought that was a reasonable request.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.

I've been a member for several years, and not received any requests for ID.

Although their surveys are low value, they are quick and easy to do.

  • I have had a change of mindset on it. When a parasite makes itself known and ups and leaves so quickly, it is actually a good thing. Not so sure they should be on MSE's list of recommended sites though.
