Chilli & Ginger Chicken

Hello All, Hope some can help me.
I've just bought my 1st SC and want to make Chilli & Ginger Chicken from the SC Recipe thread for tomorrow nights tea.
My question is, would it be Ok (taste ok) if I made it with powdered ginger, you know from the dried herbs and spices section and also chilli powder rather than fresh? My local Mr T's doesn't stock the fresh as "no one has ever asked for them"
Also what about quantities, do you think a teaspoon of each would be enough?
Thanks for your help!

dried chili would be OK but I would not use powdered ginger - the taste is completely different. Tesco do sell small jars of fresh ginger (barts) which lasts for ages in the fridge and is quite reasonably priced0

I don't know where in Manchester you are but I'm surprised that your Mr T don't sell either ginger or chilli.. anyway - if it helps, there's a lovely Asian/Caribbean/Polish food shop in Openshaw, between Aldi and Lidl on the Ashton Old Road and i know they sell both root ginger and fresh chillis in there, as well as really useful stuff like dried beans and various flours, and a good supply of fresh fruit and veg.
