Vacuum cleaner recomendations
Hi all
My upright cordless vacuum cleaner has given up (it's old)
Started a search & it's mind boggling & quite expensive.
Can anyone recommend a decent cordless upright with a detachable hand held.
No pets or children. Laminate/tiles floors downstairs & carpet stairs and bedrooms.
Budget is under £90. I use to cashback so hoping to get some cashback
Thanks

I've not got one, but Amazon has this Russell Hobbs model with lots of good reviews for £59.00

I'd recommend a Shark cordless vacuum cleaner. The one I have is reasonably lightweight, easy to charge and empty, and the handheld section works well. It folds in half when not in use. They can be expensive new, but there are lots of second-hand ones on eBay. I would rather have a second-hand Shark (obvs. from a seller with excellent feedback) than a new one that isn't made as well.

I too have a Shark cordless and do think they are very good on my wooden or tiled floors. However I find they are not so good on carpet and have recently bought a powered Shark for this reason. I am keeping the cordless though for quick clean ups.

We have had a Beldray Airgility for over 4 years, it may have even been pre-Covid. They are about £69. It is a stick Cordless with powered brush bar. It has 22v battery which delivers more power (or longer running) than some expensive models. I would certainly recommend it as very good value for money.
Robert Dyas have the top of the range Titanium model at £74/£79 depending when you look, if you want to buy in a shop to take home, rather than online.

I am going to share my experience of a Dyson stick, it is seriously disappointing and has been gathering dust for years, ever since the battery conked out. I had high expectations as the cylinder version works well but wanted the convenience of a cord-free device that is easy to carry. So save your money!
Forget a stick, consider instead upping your budget and get a Henry. It isn't everyone's aesthetic taste but every single tradesperson I know uses them because they are so effective and last forever.
Or go to the other end of the scale and buy a silicone broom (specifically NOT the JML rubber broom with the yellow handle). They can be had for £10 and pick up every speck of everything, and make light work of hard flooring in particular.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
I agree on the silicone broom. I've just used mine as I noticed that I'd missed a bit when vacuuming yesterday (it's an awkward corner) so got my broom out to deal with it.
I find it invaluable for a quick sweep/clean and it gets into places I find difficult to vacuum - like under the wall hung loo.
