Oyster split/Rail/Underground.
Need to travel from Ware Rail Station to Kings Cross Underground Stn (change to tube @ Tottenham Hale). Oyster peak fare is £13.40 for whole journey.
However, I discovered Oyster peak fare from Ware to Tottenham Hale is £7.60 and Tottenham Hale Tube to Kings Cross Tube is £3.90 (peak) so £11.50 total.
I assume to get the cheaper fare, I will simply need to use two debit cards.
Edit: sorry, wrong forum. Can a mod move it to public transport. thx.

It looks like you're right, 2 separate cards is the way to go (unless there's any potential daily cap benefit, but I don't think there is outside Zone 9). Nice and easy as you're changing there anyway.
The anomaly seems to happen where TfL and National Rail overlap outside the main zones. For TfL purposes Ware to Bayford are part of the same notional Zone (B), but as far as National Rail's concerned there's quite a difference in pricing between them.
