If you'd like a draft wording as a starting point, please let me know and I'll send you a Private Message which will include pointers for the information it would be helpful to include when you contact MH. Obviously what you choose to say is entirely your call, but confronting a blank document on screen, even with a fully fettled new PC, isn't always the easiest of jobs.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
Sounds as if this is definitely one for MoneyHelper if your IFA can't clarify. I suggest you include this information when you contact MH.
The problem is that MoneyHelper is generic and won't be able to help with issues about a specific provider. The IFA should have this sorted with a straight answer. i.e. does the provider offer it? yes/no. If yes, then what is the problem. Even if the solution is currently undetermined, it should be possible to narrow it down further than it is now.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

They are normally able to provide general information about a specific situation/product, and that's what is needed here, at least as the starting point.
I too would expect the IFA to have been able to identify what is and isn't possible under the terms of this particular policy, or where the lack of clarity arises. It's a little strange that they have apparently not yet done so - the time needed should be minimal, so OP wouldn't get a thumping bill.

The IFA is newly appointed, and doesn't have full info yet from the manager, who are dragging their feet.

Can I just say a big Thank You to all those who've commented to my original post. Your thoughts have helped me a lot, and I feel much more certain now that the manager will have to give way on this.
