Thanks for starting Gers.
I've actually slept well, unbelievable!
It's dull and damp here, with wet leaves all over the pavements, a real autumn morning. The leaves are a slip hazard so it pays to walk carefully. I've got quite bad osteoporosis so if I fell would certainly break something. That's what the osteoporosis nurse tells me anyway.
Not a lot going on here today, but that's ok, I can find plenty to do.
I've been going through wardrobes and drawers for the last day or so, so I've now got a bag for the cs, some old pillowcases for the fabric reclaim, and 2 bags of summer clothes to go into the loft.
I ordered a new hairdryer from Boo#s, so that's to collect today, and there's a bit of shopping to do.
Hope the poorly people are feeling a bit better and that everyone has as good a day as they can.
Take care folks

Morning all
It’s a lovely bright crisp start - I love this type of autumn day.
Yesterday was long! - my health check was fine (although the NHS system calculated I was ‘moderately inactive’ based on my answers (basically cos I don’t cycle or do formal exercise) which the nurse conceded was flawed), as was my blood donation. DM finished up having 2 units of blood transfused, they altered her planned CT scan so a porter whizzed her from one part of the hospital to another - she was there 7 hours in total and we got home from collecting her at 745pm 🥱Today will be trying to catch up and thankfully having my hair cut. Need to chop up and roast a huge pumpkin in readiness for making soup too.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekendAA

Morning again - and well done to @ScarletRibbons, hope that you can repeat it tonight.
Last night the evening was dark at 6.30p.m., first time I've noticed it so much. Yesterday I didn't go to the big town, saving that for today, I only went into the village. I wanted to make some coleslaw so only bought the ingredients for it. My experience in the wee Co-op wasn't good. I had six items, cabbage, loose carrots and one red onion plus a couple of herbs. As the two staffed stalls had long queues of people with heaving trolleys I reluctantly went to the self-scan unit. Then I found that because there's no weighing machine either at the scanner or the veg part of the shop I had to join one of the huge lines after all. The carrots and onion cost me £0.57 and nearly 20 minutes in the queue. I was so angry I phoned customer service to complain and will continue to do so until either there is a huge sign advising not to self-scan or weighing / pricing machines are installed. Breathe!
Sorry to rant. 😘 It's the mindless or thoughtless attitude of supermarket management which riles me. After that I had a lovely time making coleslaw though I didn't slice / chop things too finely. My on the chunky side salad was very tasty so I'll make it again. I've ordered a big cabbage cutter, an upsized potato peeler thing.
I was in a grump because the healthcare assistant / nurse who fitted the heart monitor was rather brusque, I asked if she was stressed, 'no, just busy' was her brusque answer! Very unusual for staff there, I hadn't seen her before so will make sure to avoid any further contact. Whilst I was waiting there was a sudden flurry of staff leaping up to close all open doors - just as a lovely ginger cat strolled through reception. I was told he lives locally and comes to visit and wander through the building. Someone soon scooped him up to eject him. A nice wee moment.
Today I will be going up to the big town as I have an order to collect and the fridge needs restocking. It's very chilly outside, only 4c right now but looks bright. I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better and the poorlies are warm. Take care all. xx

Haven't stuck my nose outside yet but the sky looks blue and it's a bit windy too.
Just finished making a marble sponge tray bake to decorate when it's cooled and started off the base for a shepherds pie for tomorrow's dinner. Stripped our bed which I shall re-make after my coffee break.
I totally agree with you @Gers that's very annoying. Surely that should be part of the set up for self scanning anyway. Hope you get a reply and they sort it.
Nothing else planned today so I'll wish you all a good day x

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but noticeably cooler, last night got very cold so we lit the log burner and were soon cosy.
The job meeting went well yesterday and they have offered me the job I start next week, a nice man who has had a stroke and needs a bit more help, his dog did keep trying to hump me though so I need to stop that smartish!
I have heard from the other lady who couldn’t afford me saying that she can’t offer me the job 🙄 I replied saying thanks very much but maybe in future check peoples profiles where the rate is very clearly stated to avoid wasting peoples time and petrol, she also asked if I would like to go over and take her out for coffee occasionally - err that will be a no! Makes me so mad 😡
Dinner tonight will be steak chips and mushrooms stuffed with garlic cream cheese, OH will cook, the chips and mushrooms will be done in the AF but the steak on the hob as we like it very rare.
I have to clean my car out today as I have to take the new man to therapy on Wednesday and my car is very mucky.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all. Thanks for the start @Gers. Bad luck that you got a brusque healthcare assistant/nurse for the heart monitor fitting; I hope you get on OK with it. I use my local Co-op for some things (nothing else near enough to walk to) but agree with your rant about your experience. As you say, all down to management decisions.
@ScarletRibbons - Fingers crossed for another good night's sleep tonight.
@AlwaysAllie - Good news that your DM's CT scan could be fitted in after her blood transfusion, hopefully you (and she) can find some time to relax this weekend.
@RedRuby1231 - Well done on securing the job, I hope you can discourage the man's passionate dog!
@Suffolksue - So glad you enjoyed your trip to see the Bayeux Tapestry, I've heard others say it's worth a visit.
It's a lovely bright and calm start to the day after a very chilly night. It should stay dry and we might - just might - get into double temperatures this afternoon. It looks as if the coming week will be bringing much cooler weather so I've set my heating to come on automatically in the morning and again in the evening; if I do need it on during the day I can do that manually and will adjust the timer once it gets colder. For now, an additional layer of clothing and/or keeping busy moving about is usually enough. Sunset here is just after 6pm; the curtains are being drawn far too early for my liking but I do enjoy snuggling down in the evenings.
Yesterday I booked my flu jab appointment the old fashioned way by walking into the surgery before continuing to Sainsbugs for a few items I can't get on my grocery delivery. I got everything on my list but did have to search high and low for some of them. After that I was just in time for the bus back up the hill to the Co-op, then home via a detour to the Little Library; there wasn't anything that took my fancy so nothing borrowed. I certainly got my steps in and didn't my aching legs let me know it last night! My daily short walks fell by the wayside in all the recent hot weather so I need to get back into the habit.
Today I'll be doing yesterday's postponed admin and there's a small wash load to put on. Kitchen-wise I'll have the SC on for a bolognaise sauce, a pan of carrot & lentil soup on the hob for lunches (snap @IzzyBee) and will be putting Annie the air fryer through her paces with the bake function for a batch of Yorkshire parkin.
Stay safe and well all, take care and have a good day. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
