Train cancelled , refund refused
This morning I paid for a train ticket for a local journey with west Midlands trains £6.50 , they always provide an excellent service and I use them on most days , due to an Emergency incident ( trespasser on the line , I appreciate not something they could work around ) the train was cancelled , also all trains up until midday are cancelled so I had to take the bus , I have just applied for a refund and they have stated that due to the admin fee being more than the refund I am not entitled to a refund , surely this isnt right , what has that got to do with me ? , also there's nothing on my ticket about that , has anyone had a similar experience, thanks

It's a 'delay repay' claim you need to make - https://www.westmidlandsrailway.co.uk/about-us/delay-repay

This isn't a delay repay, it is a refund due to an abandoned journey.
OP which organisation sold the ticket?
This is important because an abandoned journey refund application has to be made to the retailer of the ticket, not the train operator and you need to submit it as an abandoned journey due to trespass.

I had a similar experience a few years ago with a different company. Admin charge £10 ergo no refund on a £6 ish ticket.

Try a chargeback, as you didn't get what you paid for.
