Lloyds mortgage overpayments
I've recently switched my mortgage from Halifax to Lloyds.
When with the Halifax, I'd often make overpayments one month and then would underpay a subsequent month and when I did this, the underpayments were taken from the built up overpayment fund and my overpayment allowance was restored.
E.g. if I paid my contractual payment a day early on 30th September and then made no payment at all in the month of October, this would not use up any of my overpayment allowance as the underpayment was funded by the previous overpayment.
With Lloyds, things seem to be operating differently, and while underpayments are allowed if sufficient overpayments have been made previously, the overpayment allowance isn't restored. So if I pay my contractual payment a day early on 30th September, then make no payment at all in the month of October - this uses up my overpayment allowance to the value of my contractual payment.
I'm in the process of raising this with Lloyds to clarify - has anyone else experienced this? I was surprised that Halifax and Lloyds would treat an early payment differently and I wasn't sure if this was intentional or a limitation of the software they use to make the calculation.
