Pension Advice for Self Employed Lifetime ISA Saver
I am self employed and opened a stocks and shares 'Fully Managed' Lifetime ISA 5 years ago (risk level top/10), as a pension fund with JP Morgan (previously Nutmeg). It seems to be doing well, but so do other options. I have 17 years left before I can access it. I am wondering if anyone has any experience of using this, compared to the 'Smart Alpha' or 'Fixed Allocation' portfolios, and how it compares/risk wise etc? Or if it is worth looking at transferring elsewhere, or just sticking with this? TIA

I was invested in their 10/10 risk fund for a while, effectively about 95% equities spread across a whole bunch of passive trackers.
It's not a bad performer, but my own research showed that a cheap tracker ETF like HMWO consistently slightly outperformed it every single year for the last 10 years. And that's before the effect of fees. It's not a perfect comparator because of that little % of cash that JPM/Nutmeg holds, but the point is, if that's the risk level you are comfortable with (and with a 17 year timeframe, that is entirely appropriate if you can stomach the volatility), then you can do better and cheaper on a different platform, if you are prepared to do a little bit of research and then DIY.
