Rate Switch with Leeds Building Society
Our 2 years fixed deal with Leeds BS is ending in January and my mortgage advisor is starting to look at rates for me. She emailed the other day to say could I speak to Leeds to allow her access as she couldn't check the account as there was a block that needed taking off the account.
They called me from Leeds this morning to say they couldn't take this 'error code' off and for any rate switch I have to go through there in house mortgage advisor which is very frustrating when I want to have my advisor check the whole market. They sent me the rates via email but they are only valid for 2 days.
Has anyone else had this issue? Why won't they just let my account be available to my own Mortgage Advisor.

Get your broker to call up? They can speak to their account manager to try and get it resolved.
We dont do a lot with Leeds, but if I found out they were preventing us from doing transfers I would be going mad at them.

My broker rang first and was told they needed me to ring up and give permission and also discuss this issue with the account. When I rang up they said there was a block on my account and they couldn't take it off. If I wanted to product switch, I had to do with with them directly.
My broker is looking elsewhere now to do a remortgage as Leeds have been awful to deal with and are coming up quite expensive.

Something similar happened to me recently with TSB who use the same IT system as Leeds.
TSB were able to remove the code, but it took them about a week.
