MSE Forum Poll: Which supermarket loyalty scheme offers the best rewards?

Signing up to a supermarket loyalty programme feels like a MoneySaving no-brainer, but not all schemes are created equal.

While some are fairly generous when it comes to handing out points and bonuses, others are a bit stingy with the rewards or offer benefits that might not be worth bothering with.

Which one gets your vote? Take part in our poll then share your thoughts in the thread.

Lidl. Not as good as it used to be but still better than the rest.

Waitrose is useless as is Sparks. Sainsburys won't let partners use each other's coupons. Co-op stopped honouring their loyalty cards because suddenly we are not in the right part of the country. No Morrisons in the area and I hate Asda.

    Tesco is pretty decent.

  • Iceland bonus card gives £1 for every £20 loaded onto card throughout the year.

£100 loaded onto card for Xmas gives £20 bonus in total.

Tesco used to be good in the past but has been terrible for me a lot lately, whereas purely from a loyalty scheme pov Morrisons has been great e.g. got free chocolate on my birthday (nothing from Tesco), have been getting a 10% off voucher every week the last few weeks and some coupons in the post, free promotional giveaways every now and then, and then there's the points-booster thing that Tesco appears to have copied (which still doesn't appear to work for me). Then there's also the Morrisons Fivers, although I'm not sure how that compares to Tesco Clubcard points, although Tesco does allow you to use your points on other things too.

My biggest frustration with Tesco is they keep telling me to go paperless - which I want to do - yet their marketing preferences literally do not have a paperless option.

Sainsbury's Nectar has probably been the 2nd best imo as they do occasionally send out decent money-off coupons.

Co-op used to be the best because you could have it as cash whenever you want or money off shopping. Now it's rubbish.

Still comes down to the same thing it's been for a couple of centuries. Shop around to save the most. Stock up when the items you use are on offer. You don't have to trawl the shops now. You can check online and organise your visits.

Supermarket prices have gone up so much that they are the same price as the farm shop which has better quality and you can buy only what you want so no plastic, no food waste and delicious food. No loyalty card just a more pleasant experience.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I voted for Lidl - not brilliant but best of a bad bunch.

Personally I would say they are all a big rip off. Would prefer if they all dump the schemes & give everyone good value prices

Find nectar the most useful, reductions on stuff I shop for, additional points on the things I buy and everyday items like milk, quickly builds up. Have made a number of Argos purchases using mainly nectar points. You normally pay the £2.49…. If it’s like a and item pricesed at say 49.99 as it multiplies of 2.50.

Lidl gone really downhill imo, I’m finding myself shopping elsewhere now, especially since no more 10% off deals.

Nectar For me as I get offers on stuff I actually buy, plus can use at argos.

Tesco I dont really get any extras, the bonus points & discounts are all on stuff I never buy despite their claims to the contrary

Lidl is ok, but dont really go their that often due to distance & only get weekly discounts on about 5 items.

Morrisons, all the bonus stuff seems to be on big name brands which i never buy. Probably works out decent if you buy lots of low value items given its 0.5p per item.

Asda offers absolutely nothing, not sure what the point of it is any more.
