Morning, thanks Gers
It's raining quite heavily here, doesn't seem cold though. I was just thinking back to the week of DH' s birthday in early July, when I'd started do some baking, but abandoned it because it was so hot I couldn't bear to have the oven on. Happy days.
Nice to see you back RedRuby.
We had a nice day out yesterday,it stayed fine.
DH set our heating to come on for a couple of hours this morning, the house has been so cold these last few mornings, it feels lovely. That's what set me off thinking about that day in July, what a contrast.
Not.much going on here, just same old same old.
Hope everyone is ok and manages to have a good day .Take care folks.

Good morning Gers, thanks for starting.
It's looking dull outside, rain is forecast from lunchtime. I got all my washing done and dried yesterday, the laundry basket was empty for a short time. Nothing much planned for today apart from catching up with Celebrity Masterchef.
Dh was still worried about his blood test results but I googled and found out that it was quite normal to have a borderline result. Hopefully it's put his mind at rest.
Burgers in brioche rolls tonight and I'm going to cook some steak and kidney for a pie tomorrow, his favourite so hopefully it'll cheer him up.
Have a good day all, take care.

The morning was miserable early on, driving rain, thick sea fret and chilly. Now I think that the rain is clearing up though the fret is not much different.
The washing I hung out yesterday dried in the high winds. There was a brief burst of drizzle which soon fizzled out. I had a long chat with a lovely chap from Apple Support, I only had a small query but he decided to deep dive it. 😀 As he didn't know the answer he took the time, and I think the pleasure, to ask various colleagues, took ages but I got a 'yes'.
A few days ago I ordered a lovely merino wool Hobbs jumper from M&S in the sale. I was pleased that I had grabbed a bargain until it arrived yesterday. It was felted and wouldn't have fitted a two year old! Obviously an error in manufacture but just how it was sent out by M&S defeats me. Both Hobbs and M&S must have realised that it was defective. I was so cross about it. The very kind and patient customer service agent of course arranged a refund and added on £5.00 as a goodwill offering. Didn't placate me too much though I appreciated the gesture.
Now I will be going up to the big town to return the blooming thing. I'll take away the soft plastics and a bag for the dump whilst I'm at it. I hope that Saturday is a good day for everyone including families and friends. The glory days of summer are well behind us now, time to prepare to hunker down I think.
Hugs to all.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
I'm up early as my friend and I are off to Sandringham for game and country fair. Hopefully weather will hold till the afternoon. Never been before so looking forward to it.
Had a friend round last night for quick BBQ, we have a small outdoor heater so stayed out until around 10.
Need to get going so hugs to all who need them.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's gloomy and mizzly here this morning and we are promised it will stay like that for most of the day.
No plans so a day of same old same old for me. And I think I'll maybe need a nap this afternoon after the most rubbish night ever. Grr. No shopping until tomorrow but I'll compose my list today in readiness. I'm still trying to get freezer stocks down so nothing frozen going on the list.- unless I spot something I can't resist!
I had a long phone chat with my Bus Buddy yesterday. She is thoroughly fed up with all the appointments, scans and ops etc. The drains she had in were removed and she thinks it was too early as she still has heavy discharges and has to have regular dressing changes by the practice nurses. I feel so sorry for her.
Have a good day folks if you can, take care all and be safe x

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a chill in the air autumn is on the way I think.
Someone asked yesterday about my mum ( sorry can’t remember who) she did not get on well in the home although she put a brave fave on when we called, she did not leave her room at all 😩 and said she felt really uncomfortable the staff were pleasant enough apart from one but the room was very small with a tiny bed, since being home she is much more unsettled and confused, she also seems to have lost the ability to do anything for herself as the staff did it all in the home, I am having to go up each morning to make her a tea and breakfast and one of us goes up each evening to give her some tea, the carers go in at lunch time during the week and make her lunch, but we have contacted social services and asked for a morning and evening call now as she just can’t cope 😢 it’s all very sad.
I think I have got dd a small freezer for her garage on FB selling page for £20 so we might have to go and pick that up at some point today, she has a fridge freezer for her kitchen but this one will be for dog food and can be stored in the garage which can be entered through the back garden so easy to get to.
Other than that a bit of housework is on the cards and maybe a bit of tidying in the garden.
Have good days all and take care xx

Oh yes @RedRuby1231 it was me asking after your mum. Oh I'm sorry she didn't get on well being there. Yes, it must be very sad to see her going downhill like that x
Makes a change to have the house to myself on a Saturday. DH has gone to DS's to help paint his kitchen. 2 paintbrushes are better than one I suppose
No other plans today but I might go in the garden and do a bit of weeding as the earth is soft now we've had quite a bit of rain in the last couple of days.
Have a good day all x

Morning everyone,
Sorry to hear about your mum, RedRuby, it is sad to watch. Hopefully, she will settle back into her home as the days pass.
Not much happening here, my cold was clearing up yesterday, but today it has resurfaced, so back to sitting on the sofa. I did manage a short walk around the houses yesterday and it was nice to get some fresh air. I will aim to do the same this evening too.Mr W has just been delivered so nicely stocked up fruits and veggies as when I am feeling a little under the weather I fancy fresh fruits and smoked salmon, so it is smoked salmon with wholemeal bread for lunch, possibly with scrambled egg.
I will probably be watching the ladies golf on to plus the athletics.
Take care all.7 -
Afternoon all, thanks for starting us off today @Gers.
@RedRuby1231 - I'm so sorry your mum didn't like her stay at the care home and wish you every success in getting extra care visits to help not just her but you too. x
Today's weather report is for cloud, some sunny intervals and a high chance of rain at any time, 'feels like' temperatures anywhere between 15 and 19 deg. Sunset time now 7.29 pm. After having bled the radiators the other day, I tested the heating for an hour yesterday evening to make sure everything was working and it was sheer bliss. For now it will be on as/when needed (especially early morning) but I'm hoping it won't be too often for a good while yet. Those hot summer days are almost a distant memory now!
I had another early night plus a lie in this morning and, whilst this cold isn't making me feel ill nor have I lost my appetite, there's plenty of brain fog going on. Not a day for making important decisions! I've begun the freezer use-up effort and tonight's dinner is turkey burgers in pitta breads with jalapeno relish, green salad and Bulgar wheat. I've also unearthed two banana muffins that I'd forgotten about that will do for puddings with custard. DS had his blood test yesterday, results due some time next week. Nothing doing for him on the job search yet either.
Take care all, have the best day you can. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9
