Treat stains as soon as possible and before putting them in the wash.
Preventing them is even better. I keep a basket of assorted cotton and linen napkins on the table and remember to use them. They are inexpensive on eB.

Thank you for the many many recommendations.
The stain is mainly from the suncream I use with my skincare routine although I have taken recently to not putting anything on my neck to avoid this problem but it doesn't help the white shirt with the stain around the collar at the moment however I will try the suggestions

Apart from all the other good advice, for the actual wash itself, powder detergent is better than liquid detergent for whites.
It contains more bleach type whiteners.

Best thing i use is a dishwasher tablet in the wash.
