O/S Daily Saturday 5 September

Morning all and welcome to Saturday!

It actually feels a bit chilly out there this morning but the sun's shining. I'm off to play for my Morris side at Bunkfest, in Oxfordshire, so need to get going early as it's a fair drive. I'll be out all day so DH is making us a shepherd's pie for dinner tonight. I'll take a sandwich with me, although there will be plenty of food stalls set up.

Yesterday we recce'd a walk near Chesham, which was nearer to 5 miles than planned. We managed a drinks stop at a halfway pub though, so that was good. The cycle cafe at the end was very welcoming to walkers so will use that as a base when we take friends next month.

Good Morning all,

What a beautiful morning, I will try and go outside and potter in tidying up the garden this afternoon. This morning I will potter around indoors doing the dusting and vacuuming nothing too strenuous.

I do want to empty out a cupboard in the spare room as it is not earning its keep! I am sure I can make better use of it to store items I use on a more regular basis, if I have time I will do it this morning or it will be a Monday job.

No other plans for today. Tea will be a bacon pasta bake so nice and easy.

Morning folks and thanks WL for kicking off. I thought it felt a bit chilly too when I first got up but I have just poked my nose outside and it feels warmer than I expected. Thankfully that gusty wind of yesterday has moved on. There are a couple of pots out back that have blown over so they will be to retrieve.

It's Sainsbobs morning so I'm expecting DS any time now. It's allegedly a top up shop for me but I have said that before and what happens! Once a food hoarder forever a food hoarder! Well in my defence there was a guy on TV yesterday recommending we all stock up in view of the promised arrival of El Nino disrupting supplies.

Not a lot planned for later but there are always jobs if I care to look. Have a good day folks if you can, take care and be safe x

Good morning all - thanks for the start @WickedLady4, have a good dance.

After all the rain yesterday today may be better, it's dry so far though the sky was a beautiful pink earlier on.

I was really good at doing little jobs done yesterday, I was especially pleased at dealing with new electricity tariff as soon as the email arrived. For the first time ever I will have three cost periods for it, peak, off peak and super-off peak (5.00a.m. to 7.00a.m). Once it starts I will have to organise my power hungry chores to suit. Can I set off the washing machine in super-off peak times? We'll see!

Late on I had a planned call from my GP which wasn't as good as I wanted it to be though as expected. The condition identified late July needs more meds so it's been doubled after already being doubled once before. It's a bit of a shock but happy that the medics are on the case and looking after me. I don't like taking tablets though needs must. I'll settle down after having time to work through it. I'm grateful that it's nothing too nasty.

Don't know if I mentioned that my locking wheel bolt has gone missing? The garage where it had the last service had the mechanics searching for two days without any sign of it. The process to order a new one is a pain, however the mechanics said that ordinary bolts are fine these days as fewer wheels are being stolen. The outcome of prolonged chats with both the dealership and the garage yesterday is now that I'm taking the car for a service in two weeks where the old locking bolts will be removed by 'magic' mechanical means and new ones produced.

The banana 'ice cream' was only OK. I used water so it was more like a sorbet. Don't think I'll bother again.

I also cleared out a shocking number of navy and black trousers, now there are two bags of them in car which will be going to the CS. There's also a number of assorted unwanted items in the bag too - things like notebooks, straps for bags and a new'ish glasses case.

With a bit of luck today won't be so challenging. I will need to do a little light shopping, nothing urgent yet, perhaps I can wait until tomorrow.

Morning All

Thanks for the start WL, enjoy your day. Glad the walk went well yesterday and you didn't get too wet.

It was pouring down yesterday morning but turned into quite a nice afternoon with a strong wind. I got some washing done and pegged it out, it was almost dry in an hour.

It's been raining overnight but is dry and bright at the moment, bedding on the line and another load in. Hopefully it will stay dry today.

I've been feeling a bit out of sorts since the bump on Tuesday, headache and not sleeping. I phoned NHS 24 yesterday and they say the headache is from whiplash although my achy neck and shoulders have recovered quite quickly, probably as I didn't tense up as I didn't see the car coming! My car was taken away on a tow truck on Thursday afternoon and I have been loaned a lovely car to use until mine is fixed so can't complain about the service from the insurance folk.

I hope your new meds are helpful Gers, I find it useful to programme the WM for when I get home or get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Just a quickie as I have to get dressed and out soon. I'm going to a rug making workshop this morning, just a very small rug….I'm looking forward to it. I bought myself it from mam and dad for my birthday.

No children this weekend so I'm planning to get some jobs done, the front path needs weeding and the back garden tidying, though it's very windy still so I'll see.

Izzy enjoy your week up here in Northumberland, the forecast for next week is ok.

We have spent the morning making room for some bits we bought from a second furniture shop. A new wooden TV stand, 2 new small chest drawers as my bedside tables don't hold all my underwear ( sorry if TMI) and a lovely small cupboard for a corner in our lounge. Shocked how much dust behind tv note to self clean more regularly tut tut.

Morning all, thanks for the start @WL, have a good time at Bunkfest.

Today the weather people have promised us a day of sunny intervals, rain unlikely, and cool with top temperatures reaching just 17 deg. Yesterday's wind was very gusty at times, so much so I had to close my bedroom window last night.

Yesterday's top up shop was a small one of milk, a TV guide, a net of easy peelers and a tin of sardines towards winter stores. On my wander round the Co-op I noticed they've already got boxes of mince pies on sale. 🙄 I'll be making my own, thank you. Then I took six books back to the Little Free Library 👍️ and managed to come home with three. 👎️ While I was out, DS went for a UC interview and wasn't best pleased to find out it had been cancelled and re-arranged for two weeks' time. No explanation as to why or apology for wasting his time.

Nothing exciting planned for today but I should have a trawl through pantry stocks to see what I'm short of for winter. DS is in charge of tonight's dinner that I think will be a prawn curry with rice. August's energy bill dropped into my Inbox this morning and, if winter's price cap predictions are correct, I'm just glad I renewed my fixed plan when I did and that I have a decent credit balance to use should it be needed.

@Gers - Sorry to hear your GP phone call wasn't good and that you have to double up again on the meds. Hopefully they'll get the dosage right soon.

@camelot - Glad you like the loan car while yours is out of service, hope the headache clears up before too long.

@NRA - I can't get away with ignoring the dust behind my TV stand because it's a console table with glass shelves! Behind the WM however is a different matter ………….. 😁

@Gers my washer has a delay setting so it can run during cheap times, I think most have something similar nowadays.

Genius! My machine has a remote option to connect via an app. I had derided it for at least two years.😀 After a bit of a faff (and I enjoy a good faff) I managed to connect the machine to my WiFi and app. Now more faffing to find out how to use it. New tariff not in use until October so plenty of time though I know I could use it now. Probably would have been useful during the hot weather, however, a HUGE THANKS for the prompt @Floss. And it links to Alexa - there's another rabbit hole I need to dive into!

I've been out to buy eggs. The day has become warm, sunny and windy, perfect drying weather if I'd had washing to do.

The company which sent out the frozen food which DHL / A&M couriers failed to delivery have re-ordered box, fingers crossed it arrives in time next week. Meanwhile I've take out a portion of bolognaise from the freezer.
