Employers may not find me on the electoral roll?

Hi,
I have lived at my current address for 13 months.
My address is "ROOM 12" ...followed by the rest of the address.
Its on the second floor of a block of flats.
There are eight other flats on this floor.
(My accommodation contract gives my address as "Room 12"......)

However, the council do not have any address of that description.

The council only have an address here called "Second Floor Flat"...followed by the rest of the address.

Therefore, when I asked to go on the electoral roll the other day, they have now assigned me the address

"Second Floor Flat".....(rest of address).

They said if i want to get the "Room 12" address registered, then i will need to ask the landlord to contact
the council's "street naming and numbering" dept.

Anyway, all my job applications have "Room 12....." on them for my address.

So if an employer tries to check if i am on the electoral roll, then do you think that they will realise that the
person at "second floor flat...." is me?

(All of my details, eg insurance, bank, phone, etc etc have me down as "Room 12….")

Is it common for employers to verify the individual's electoral role status?

Unless your name is on the public register I'd be surprised if they even had access to it. Some secure roles may undertake other checks though.

    Usual worrying about nothing!

From a previous thread about Council Tax it was apparent you lived in a House in Multiple Occupation. Councils do not "break down" addresses of HMOs into individual room numbers.

If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Credit Reference Agencies use fuzzy logic to match data and searches to people. Were that not the case you could escape your past by simply moving to the diminutive form of your name or adding an e to the end of your surname etc.

In the most advanced credit searches they CRAs will give a confidence factor that you are the same person as the data they hold but in most forms a threashold of something reasonable (eg 80%) is set and the response to the enquirer is simply yes or not if threashold is met.
