Link Financial Outsourcing
Hi all, been a long time since last posted, again i would like to thank everybody on this forum for their help and advice. so my question is, i went bankrupt on 26th August 2020 recieved a letter from link financial outsourcing saying they had bought one of my debts from the co-op bank which was included in my bankruptcy, i sent them a copy of my bankruptcy order and they said fine. Was finally discharged on 26th August 2026 and upon checking my credit file everything has gone apart from link, they have been putting account defaulted since 31st March 2021 and it is still there. Are they allowed to put this on my credit file for 6 years from this date or are they just being a pain!!! Many thanks for reading.

NO. Make a formal written complaint and escalate it to the ICO.
Also check your dates - most people declared bankrupt in 2020 were discharged in 2021

Sorry my mistake, was discharged in 2021 but my six years finished in 2026, sorry for being a bit dozy but what is the ICO?

The "ICO" is the "Information commissionaires office", they deal with all personal data related issues, such as incorrect entries on credit files:
Information Commissioner's Office
You must complain to the company concerned first though, and allow them the chance to put things right, if they don`t, or you are still unhappy, then you escalate the matter to the ICO.
Hope that helps.

it is the co-op that should have marked your debt as defaulted on or before the date of your bankruptcy. Complain to them, then Link will have to use the same date.

Congrats on your discharge!
Link is completely in the wrong here. Under ICO rules, any debt in your bankruptcy MUST have its default date backdated to your Bankruptcy Order date (26th August 2020), meaning it should have dropped off your credit file in August 2026.
Log a formal dispute with the credit reference agency showing it (Experian, Equifax, etc.) and send Link a quick email with your Bankruptcy Order attached, demanding they correct the default date or remove the entry. They usually wipe it quickly once you raise a dispute.
